Lorraine Dempsey

Lorraine is primarily an oil painter, with her roots firmly planted in the vibrant landscapes and culture of her native South Africa.

Lorraine favours the use of walnut oil paints, which contain high amounts of pigment and do not yellow with age. Experimenting with fresh techniques and pushing the boundaries of her creative expression is very important and she loves creating texture in her work. Lorraine finds interest in all different subject matters, landscapes, animals and portraits. For her, being expressive in her brush stokes, colour and the effects of light are very important.
